Chip Trapper - Filter the chips out of your used coolant and cutting oils!

The Exair Chip Trapper offers a fast, easy way to clean chips, swarf and shavings out of used coolants and other liquids. The Chip Trapper vacuums the coolant or liquid that is filled with debris and traps all the solids in a reusable filter bag. Only the liquid pumps back out. It is ideal for use on machines with sumps, parts washers, tanks and storage containers of contaminated liquids.

The Chip Trapper uses EXAIR’s compressed air powered Reversible Drum Vac (included) that can fill or empty a 55 gallon drum in less than two minutes. Simply set the Reversible Drum Vac pump and directional flow control valve on top of the drum to “fill” for it to quickly vacuum the liquid with solids. Once the sump, pit or tank is empty, set the pump and directional valve to “empty” for it to pump out clean coolant/liquid. All the chips and other solids are trapped inside the reusable filter bag of the Chip Trapper.

Chips can accumulate in the sump, restricting coolant flow.
The Chip Trapper pumps the coolant back into the sump – free of chips and debris.
Chip Trapper filters out solids from partswasher fluids.

EXAIR's Drum Cover Keeps Bulk Material Contained and Free of Contaminants

EXAIR’s new fine mesh non-woven drum cover is designed for use on 55 or 30 gallon drums. The breathable material allows the air from an EXAIR Line Vac, air operated conveyor, to circulate whether moving material in or out of a drum. The drum cover prevents contamination of your material and keeps material contained in the drum for a cleaner and safer work environment. Since it is fabricated to fit 55 or 30 gallon drums, it is the simplest of solutions when needing a containment vessel for your transferred scrap, trim waste, parts, chips or pellets. It is suitable for conveyance hoses from ¾ inch (19.1mm) up through a 3.4 inches (86.4mm) outside diameter.
Line Vac conveyors are the low-cost way to transport complex shapes, bulk solids and waste - with no moving parts or electricity.  Units eject a small amount of compressed air to produce a vacuum on one end and high output flows on the other with instantaneous response.  Air speed is easily controlled by regulating inlet air pressure.
Line Vacs are available in aluminum, Type 303SS, Type 316SS and hardened alloy to resist abrasion in sizes from 3/8 inch (10mm) through 5 inches (127mm). They come in styles for use with hose, threaded NPT for use with pipe and a sanitary flange model for use with flanged pipe. NEW From EXAIR! The Hazardous Location Cabinet Cooler – For Use In Classified Areas

EXAIR is always focused on releasing new products and improving on existing product lines, and 2018 has been no different! Earlier on this year we introduced the New Super Air Scraper as an accessory to our 2” Flat Nozzles and Safety Air Guns. Just last month, EXAIR has also introduced a new line of products to the Cabinet Cooler family: The Hazardous Location Cabinet Cooler.
Cabinet Cooler Overview>>

EXAIR’s Hazardous Location Cabinet Coolers are engineered for use with purged (not included) electrical enclosures. The HazLoc Cabinet Coolers are not purged and pressurized control systems and should not be relied upon nor used in place of a purged and pressurized controller. They are meant for use in conjunction with a purged and pressurized control system. These systems have been approved and tested by UL for use in the following areas:
Class I Div 1&2 – Groups A, B, C, and D
Class I Areas refer to the presence of flammable gases or vapors in quantities sufficient to produce explosive or ignitable mixtures. Class I Div 1 will have ignitable concentrations of flammable gases present during the course of normal operations. This is level of approval is one that differentiates the EXAIR Hazardous Location Cabinet Coolers from much of the competition. Class 1 Div 2 areas will have flammable gasses or vapors present only in the event of an accident or during unusual operating conditions.Class II Div 1&2 – Groups E, F, and G
Class II areas are locations in which combustible dust may exist. The end user shall avoid installation of the device in a Class II environment where dust may be readily disturbed from the exhausts of the Hazardous Location Cabinet Cooler. Any dust formed in the vicinity of the cooler must be cleaned regularly.Class III
Class III areas are locations that will have ignitable fibers or flyings present. This is common within the textile industry. The Cabinet Cooler also carries a temperature rating of T3C, meaning it cannot be installed near any materials that could auto-ignite at temperatures in excess of 320°F. For a comprehensive list and description of all of the various Classified areas, check out the UL website.
The Hazardous Location Cabinet Cooler is available in (8) different cooling capacities ranging from 1,000 Btu/hr – 5,600 Btu/hr. The Cabinet Cooler is the best solution for protecting your sensitive electronics from heat, dirt, and moisture. With Nema 4/4X systems available, the Hazardous Location Cabinet Coolers will keep the cabinet cool without compromising the integrity of the enclosure.
If you’ve got an electrical cabinet installed within a hazardous location, fill out the Cabinet Cooler Sizing Guide and allow an Vivek Engineers Application Engineer to determine the most suitable model for you.

Mounting Options for EXAIR’s Super Air Knife

The key towards a successful Super Air Knife  application is making sure it’s installed properly. Using the chart on the installation & maintenance guide to ensure your plumbing is properly sized is the first step. This ensures that an adequate volume of compressed air is able to reach the knife, without causing an unnecessary pressure drop.

Once you’ve planned out the distribution of compressed air to the Super Air Knife you must consider how to mount it in your application. Across the bottom of the knife are ¼-20 tapped holes spaced out evenly every 2” along the knife. A 30” Model 110030 will have (15) holes, a 60” 110060 (30), and so on. These holes are tapped through to allow you to mount the knife to best suit the application.
If you’d rather have a more “out of the box” solution, EXAIR offers our Universal Mounting System. It gives you the ability to mount onto a conveyor rail or machine frame and provide precise positioning for all of EXAIR’s Super Air Knives, Standard Air Knives, Full-Flow Air Knives, as well as the Standard and Super Ion Air Knives. Each system comes with (2) 1/2-13 x 5” long bolts, 2’ long stainless steel rod, mounting hardware, angle bracket, and adjustable swivel clamps. Check out the video below for a demonstration of the adjustability you can achieve with the Model 9060 Universal Mounting System.

Another critical factor to consider is the mounting position of the knife. If the material is moving along a conveyor, the knife should be positioned as closely as possible with the airflow oriented against the direction of travel of the material. By doing so, we increase the amount of time that the material is in contact with the airflow. We call this term counter-flow. Maximizing the time in contact with the laminar airflow from the Super Air Knife gives us the best chance at a successful result. Whether we’re talking about cooling, drying, or cleaning, the longer that the material is in contact with the laminar airflow the better the results will be.

In this photo, the Super Air Knife is positioned upside down at an angle above a conveyor belt, against the direction of travel. We recommend installing the Super Air Knife in this orientation as it allows the airflow to get closest to the material being blown off. They’ve used their own brackets to allow the knife to be adjusted when blowing residual dust off of a conveyor for a mining application. The dust on the belt would build up over time and was difficult to remove. By installing a Super Air Knife, they’re able to continuously remove the dust from the conveyor belt before it becomes a problem.
If you have an application related to above application, kindly contact us in below given contact details. An Application Engineer is ready to assist you in selecting the proper material, length, and mounting method.

EXAIR Has a New Product: The Soft Grip Super Air Scraper

EXAIR has designed a new nozzle called the Super Air Scraper.  This nozzle combines a scraping blade with our 2” Flat Super Air Nozzle.  It creates a mechanical force with a compressed air force to remove stubborn sticky material. This patent-pending nozzle can be added to the EXAIR Soft Grip Air Gun to create a powerful scraping tool.
Let’s breakdown the nozzle.  The 2″ Super Air Scraper nozzle is a model 1144 which has a ¼” NPT female connection.  The model 1144-A includes a ¾ – 32 UN adaptor for connecting to the Soft Grip Safety Air Gun extensions.  The scraper can be changed when worn with a replacement blade; model 902007.  To add flexibility to the Super Air Scraper, a shim set, model 1132SS, can be used to modify the blowing force.  With these combinations, the nozzle complements the scraper as an effective way to clean with compressed air.

To get pressurized air to the nozzle, EXAIR attached the 1144-A Super Air Scraper nozzle to the Soft Grip Safety Air Gun.  This gives a comfortable and ergonomic way to use and operate this product.  We offer different extensions for hard-to-reach applications ranging from 6” (152mm) to 72” (1,829mm) in length.  With the extensions that are 36” (914mm) and longer, EXAIR installed an additional foam grip sleeve.  This gives additional leverage for scraping material at a distance like floor level.  Chip Shields are also offered to prevent blow-back onto the operator.  You can view the details of the new product at this link on our website: Soft Grip Super Air Scraper.

To give some ideas for applications, the Soft Grip Super Air Scraper can be used for removing tape, gasket material, caulk, adhesive, paint, labels, and more.  With the addition of air, the detached material is blown away during scraping, keeping the area clean to target the remaining “stuck” material.  If gummy or flaky substances are a nuisance for workers, the Soft Grip Super Air Scraper can keep the machine or work station clean and operational.

Gen4 Super Ion Air Knives Remove Pesky Dust from Crepe Paper Manufacturing Process

A paper manufacturer was having issues with their measuring equipment (reference photo below).  They were producing 6” (152mm) wide crepe paper which is very thin and dusty.  As it would pass through the machine, a real-time measurement of basis weight and moisture content was being performed.  The basis weight of the sheet was around 14g/m2 which is like facial tissue.  The machine was giving false errors in the basis weight measurement.  As they opened the device, they noticed dust particles on the optical lens.  Because the basis weight was so small, any dust would cause a false reading.  They contacted EXAIR to see if they could help with their problem.

With a dry fibrous material like crepe paper, static can be a big issue.  Static has a strong force that can cause small fragments to “stick” to surfaces.  As you can see in the photo, the paper material is sticking to the sides and lens of the measuring device.  For this application,  Exair's Application Engineer recommended two pieces of the model 112206 Gen4 Super Ion Air Knife Kits.  The Gen4 Super Ion Air Knife is uniquely designed to have two functions; remove static and blow off dust.  The Gen4 Ionizing Bar creates both positive and negative ions to remove any type of static charge.  The Super Air Knife creates a laminar air stream to carry the ions and also generate an even blowing force to remove the dust particles from the surface.  With this combination, it becomes a very effective non-contact way to remove the contamination.  This was an important requirement as the crepe paper is very thin and could break very easily.  They were able to mount one Super Ion Air Knife above and below the paper in order to blow the dust particles in a counter-flow direction.  This would keep the particles from entering the measurement device.

The Super Ion Air Knife Kit includes the Super Air Knife with a Gen4 Ionizing Bar attached.  The kit also includes a power supply, filter, regulator, and a shim set.  The power supply is specifically designed for the Gen4 Static Eliminators.  The Gen4 Super Ion Air Knives use the high voltage from the power supply to generate enough ions to remove static from the paper at a running speed of 49.5 ft/sec (15m/sec).  The filter will remove any contamination and liquid water from the compressed air system before it enters the Super Ion Air Knife.  This is important to keep the product clean.  The shim set is a set of three different shims with a thickness of 0.001” (0.025mm), 0.003” (0.076mm), and 0.004” (0.1mm).  They are used to dramatically change the blowing force from the stock shim at 0.002” (0.05mm) thick.  Being that the paper was extremely thin, they opted to put the 0.001 (0.025m) thick shim inside the Super Ion Air Knife.  With the regulator in the kit, the customer could “dial” in the correct amount of force to keep the machine running optimally without breaking the delicate paper.
When the customer installed the Gen4 Super Ion Air Knives just before the entrance into the measuring device, the air stream was able to carry the ions to neutralize the static and to remove the dust from the paper surface.  The system was now able to make accurate measurements without disruptions.
If your industry is needing such type of problem or any other static charge problem  then kindly contact us in below provided contact details and we are having a wide range of Exair Static Eliminator products.

Adjustable Spot Cooler Keeps Garment Industry Needle Cutter Cool

EXAIR has very good cooling component called Adjustable Spot Cooler. It works with the compressed air and it delivers very cooled/chilled air. The same one we have recommended to Garment industry where they  have stalks/bunches of layers of Synthetic fabrics to be cut as per their size and design. The CNC needle cutter machine needs to cut the design and bunches of layers. During the process the needle cutter gets heated-up, so the synthetic fabric layers stick each other. We recommended 3925-Adjustble spot cooler (Temp. adjustable), Dual point hose kit (targeting cool air position) and Air Filter (controls contaminated air). After mounting our Adjustable Spot Cooler System the needle cutter gets cool and fabric stick rate reduced  drastically.

Coolant and Oil Blowoff

A manufacturer of shock absorbers for automobiles and motorcycles, as well as steering systems for automobiles is cutting solid rod at the beginning of their process. They have a problem with carryout of the coolant and oil used in the cutting process. Once the part is cut, it is ejected from the machine and takes a bit of these materials with it. The problem is the coolant makes a rather large mess in the area around the machine and also causes them to have to re-fill the cutting coolant often. So, they have decided to use a Model 2402 2" (51mm) Super Air Wipe to blow the rods off as they are being ejected from the machine.

The Super Air Wipe blows the coolant/oil mixture back into the machine, off the rod. The benefit is that there is no subsequent handling of the rod after ejection in order to clean it any further. The work area is cleaner and the coolant level does not need to be topped off as often now. This area had previously been identified as a problem area that needed too much human intervention as the process of making shocks and struts is highly automated.

Exair Air Wipes- Blowoff, dry, clean and cool pipe, cable, extruded shapes, hose, and wire!

EXAIR’s Super Air Wipe provides a uniform 360° airstream that is ideal for blowoff , drying, cleaning and cooling of pipe, cable, extruded shapes, hose, wire and more.

Cooling Extruded Tubing:
The Problem:
The extruded product, being hot and pliable, would slump and produce a crooked length of tubing. The customer tried using a series of rollers to support the extrusion until it cooled enough to become stiff . This helped somewhat, but they still experienced slump between rollers. The end product still would not meet customer specifications.
The Solution: :
Using a Model 2401 1" (25mm) Super Air Wipe positioned between two rollers, the product was cooled enough to maintain rigidity. Adding another set of Air Wipe/rollers, they were able to extrude even faster.
Standard Air Wipe
The Standard Air Wipe is a good choice when the added durability of stainless steel screws, shims and hose are not required. The Standard Air Wipe uses coated screws, plastic shims and a general purpose PVC coupling air hose on sizes up to 4" (102mm).

EXAIR Heavy Duty Dry Vac: Overview

Whenever we go for industrial vacuums, a common thinking comes to mind wheather it would be nice to have a durable, long lasting vacuum that is quiet. There is such a vacuum that has these qualities; the EXAIR Heavy Duty Dry Vac System.  This vacuum system has no moving parts, no motors to fail, or bearings to wear.  They only require compressed air to operate.  The Heavy Duty Dry Vac is used to vacuum solid materials like plastic, sand, and even denser materials like steel shot.  The vacuum pumps are made from a hardened alloy construction to resist wear and abrasion, and it is designed to generate a strong vacuum level measuring -60” H2O (-15 KPa) at 80 PSIG (5.5 Bar).  To accommodate the multiple types of industrial applications, EXAIR provides the Heavy Duty Dry Vac Systems with different options and drum sizes.
The unique design of the Heavy Duty Dry Vac is incorporated in the modified lid that will fit onto a standard 55-gallon, 30-gallon, or 110-gallon drum (209L, 114L, or 418L respectively).  A 0.1-micron filter bag mounts in the center of the lid to allow excess air to escape and to contain the contamination inside the drum.  The large surface area of the filters allows for extended use before replacement while the high efficiency will keep the fine particles from re-entering the environment.  Under the drum lid, EXAIR used some features to help reduce the noise level even further.  We added a silencing foam and an extended hose.  This will muffle the noise and direct the contamination toward the bottom of the drum.  With these additional features, the noise level is only 82 dBA at 80 PSIG (5.5 bar).  Measure that against any electric vacuum.
The Heavy Duty Dry Vac Systems come in three different options to best fit your application.  The standard option comes with the drum lid described above and a latching ring to attach to the drum.  It also comes with 10 feet (3m) of an anti-static hose, 20 feet (6m) of a compressed air hose, an aluminum chip wand, a hose hanger, a gauge, and a manual operational valve.  This option is available with three different drum sizes.  For example, model 6197 is for the 55-gallon drum (209L), model 6197-30 is for the 30-gallon drum (114L) and model 6197-110 is for the 110-gallon drum (418L).

Ultrasonic Leak Detector locate costly leaks in a compressed air distribution system

The Model 9061 Ultrasonic Leak Detector is a hand-held instrument that allows you to locate costly leaks in a compressed air distribution system. As pressurized air exits a small orifice, an ultrasonic sound that is above human hearing is created. The Ultrasonic Leak Detector is able to pick up on these sound emissions and can convert it to an audible range that is able to be heard by the human ear. Typically, this product is used in conjunction with a leak prevention program to help save money and compressed air by identifying leaks in the distribution system.

A manufacturer of plastic bottles used to hold a wide variety of different personal care products. The bottles were molded in two separate pieces, then brought together and sealed. After the two pieces of the bottle were sealed, they had to test each one to ensure that they remained watertight. Their current method involved filling the cavities with water and inspecting for leaks.
While this method was effective, when a leak was present water would get all over the machine and floor and needed to be cleaned up. This to them was considered a nuisance and they began to explore alternative methods of checking the seals on the bottles. They found EXAIR’s Ultrasonic Leak Detector and wondered if they could use it to detect leaks on the bottles if they were to pressurize them with compressed air instead of filling them with water. We’ve handled similar applications in the past, this one here a customer used the ULD to detect leaks from poor welds on the roof of buses. They ordered one for testing and were very pleased with the results. The ULD had no problem detecting leaks in the bottles and allowed them to eliminate the mess and annoyance associated with using water.
